Our next two vineyards are both located in Rutherglen. A special corner of Victoria, it is fringed by the Victorian Alps and the Murray River. Built on gold, the region has a fascinating mining past which has shaped a 150 year passion for wine.

St Leonards vineyard, is a picturesque and relaxing destination for wine enthusiasts and nature purists. The property is very peaceful, with pelicans spiralling down to the lagoon and gliding silently through the reflections of the towering gums along the waterline of the Murray River.

The vineyards at St Leonards are home to a mix of classic and curious varieties; from the usual suspects, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Semillon, to lesser known Cabernet Franc.

Try and visit over the weekend or a public holiday to enjoy a small selection of casual, fresh and seasonal dishes from the café. Your mouth will be watering as you devour their famous Beef and Durif pie or Spanish tortilla.

You can hire a vintage bicycle to gorge yourself further at local cellar doors and restuarants or visit a local landmark, All Saints Estate – a one hat restaurant within a heritage listed castle or try the boutique provedore ‘Indigo Cheese Co.’ where you can sample regional and international cheeses as well as North East Victoria produce.
